Love in the time of Postmodernism

I built a reconstructionist website some years back basically predicated on a belief in historical cycles and therefore that postmodernism was ending and the pendulum would swing back the other way from deconstruction to the attempt to create and find an overall narration within the slippery meaning of the deconstructed world.

Something was missing. I didn’t quite have the theory hashed out. I was fairly certain a reaction was soon in coming and that it would place more meaning upon the unstable structure of postmodernism. Well today it occurred to me some instances where this has occurred and what they have in common.

The God of Small Things by Roy
Across the Universe by Taymor
And Mr. Lonely by Korine

In a deconstructed, hyperreality were we have little to grasp at meaning besides small glimpses, and memories real or imagined, these woman ground their stories in one of the oldest stories of all time.

The Love Story.
